I LOVE all things fall. And decorating my home for the season is definitely at the top of that list. But if you’ve been around here for any length of time, then you also know I’m not a fan of clutter. I much prefer to live with less and avoid the mess that can ensue when my home is overly full of stuff.

Our family also lives on a budget. And while I really love to browse and look at all the pretty things each season, it’s just not in our budget to buy them all. Instead I choose just a couple new things each year to mix in with all of my older pieces. The nostalgia of bringing out the same pieces year after year really is part of the magic of the season. Especially with young kids.

I’d love to show you around my fall home tour! We love the farmhouse style, but with a cozy, minimal twist. It’s more simple than most, but that’s just the way we like it!

As you enter our home you’ll notice that our foyer opens right into our living room, kitchen and dining room. Because we have such an open concept living space, I try to keep my decor minimal so that this space doesn’t feel overly cluttered.

On our shoe cabinet, I placed a small amber glass bottle with some florals inside I found this year at Target. Our piano is very simple this year with just a small vase, a lamp, and a little white pumpkin.

On the opposite side of our foyer, we have a sofa table. I placed a wooden dough bowl with some faux leaves I found this year at Hobby Lobby. They are more natural colors than I’ve seen in years past which I love. I added a cluster of small white pumpkins to the center.

As you circle around to our living room, you’ll find our very neutral color palette has been accented with warm rusts and oranges. I added a few throw pillows to our couch along with a cozy blanket to make for a comfy spot to curl up with a cup of coffee and a good book!

Below our television, we have a cabinet (linked in the source list). I could easily fill this space with tons decor. Instead, I’ve chosen to just add a few favorite pieces that add a festive, fall touch. The floral stems on the far left are ones I picked up this year from Hobby Lobby. The rest of the decor on this cabinet is stuff I already had. I really love decorating with the same pieces from year to year.

A lot happens in our dining room each day so keeping the decor minimal is essential. While I think tablescapes can be beautiful, we use our dining room table all day, every day! It just wouldn’t be practical to have to move everything 4-5 times a day.

And while I think tablescapes are beautiful, I definitely love a more practical centerpiece instead. I’ve corralled an amber glass vase with wheat steams, a napkin holder, and our coasters onto a charger in the center of our table. This can easily be moved if we need to space, but also provides practical items we might need.

Instead, I opt to add decor to our floating shelves. We built these by loosely following these plans from Shanty-2-Chic this past spring. It added the perfect space to add some decorative elements to our dining room.

I try to only keep what I really LOVE on these shelves. I could definitely add more, but I like the look of less where the eye has room to rest. This is a mixture of old decor, new pieces, as well as practical elements we use throughout the day. On top of our sideboard below, I just keep a cake stand that holds any baked goods we make throughout the week.

As you flip around, you’ll find our kitchen is next. I keep our countertops as clear as possible. This gives me plenty of space to cook and bake each day!

I like to add some kind of decorative element to our island. Sometimes this is simply a candle. But this fall I chose to add a wooden charger from the Hearth and Hand line at Target. On top I corralled an amber glass vase with some brown floral stems, a candle, and a few white pumpkins. Everything can easily be moved if needed!

Of all the places in our home, I want our master bedroom to be the most calm, peaceful, and clutter free. So I really keep my seasonal decor in this space very simple. I’ve chosen to just add a simple Fall Sweet Fall pillow I got at Kirkland’s to our bed (link below).

Last fall we built this barn door storage unit to hide our television and add some much needed storage to this space. I didn’t realize at the time that I would LOVE decorating the outside shelves as much as I do. They are the perfect space to add a little season touch!

I hope you enjoyed our fall home tour! I’m loving the cozy minimal farmhouse style I’ve been able to achieve this fall. There really is nothing better than cozying up on the couch with a cup of coffee, comfy blanket, and a good book.
