Louis Poulsen Debuts Eye-Catching Lighting Additions for Fall 2020

Renowned Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen has released a plethora of icons and additions in their autumn collection. The PH 5 Monochrome, Keglen, LP Slim Box, PH 2-1 and PH Septima have made their debuts, sticking strongly to the brand’s passion for great lighting and Swedish design.

PH 5 Monochrome

First up is Poul Henningsen’s iconic PH 5 pendant, and the PH 5 Mini, in a new monochrome palette. The color series captures the timelessness of monochrome black, white and blue, while reimagining Henningsen’s classic design with a minimal, modern look and today’s lighting technology. Designed in 1958, the PH 5 continues to serve as a sculptural design element.

Keglen

Louis Poulsen, together with BIG Ideas, have released a new lamp series, Keglen, a further development of the Tirpitz Pendant. Distinctive design and classic, superior lighting quality will characterize the series. Four pendants each provide its own diffusion of light using a curved glass insert, which is built into and adapted to each version of the shade. The shades ensure a glare-free downward light, while a discreet opening at the top allows some light to gently reach upward.

LP Slim Box

The addition of the LP Slim Box expands the LP Slim series of fixtures that work for a wide range of applications and spaces. You can now choose from both rectangular and round versions of the modern yet classic fixtures to accommodate your needs. The fixture can be connected lengthwise into a double-length unit, creating further possibilities. The light egress of the LP Slim Box emphasizes the details of the housing, with the fixture itself emitting a downward-directed light. Also included is an indirect component to illuminate ceilings.

Two Table Lamps

PH 2-1

Another icon making a comeback is Poul Henningsen’s PH 2/1 Table Lamp in a Limited Edition with warm amber colored glass. Originally designed in 1927, it draws upon Henningsen’s reflective three-shade system. The design of the shades is based on a logarithmic spiral, with the center of the light source placed within the focal point to create soft, diffused, glare-free lighting. In the late 1920s, Louis Poulsen and Henningsen introduced colored glass lamps to create warmth and bring a unique element to living spaces.

PH Septima

Louis Poulsen is also bringing back the PH Septima, a seven-shade glass lamp that was originally designed by Henningsen between 1927 and 1931. Pulling inspiration from the three-shade system of the PH 5/5, Henningsen added four sections to make seven shades in total. Made of delicate but durable Italian borosilicate glass, the shades feature alternating clear and frosted sections that are positioned so that the frosted sections cover the clear sections underneath. The PH Septima has been modernized to include a brass suspension, canopy and arms to complement the soft tone of the design.
