Catching Up with Org Junkie #6 ~ September 2020 Favorites: The Home Edit, Purge Piles & Hope Planner
Hey there lovely people! Can it really be the end of September already? My son went back to school in September and I’m so thankful that our small community hasn’t had any Covid cases yet. Praying that it stays that way for us and for you as well wherever you live. Today I’ve got another edition of Catching Up With Org Junkie. I’m excited to share my September 2020 Favorites with you. Please keep in mind that these may not all be organizing related. I am a product junkie all around and I love sharing my favorite things with friends in real life and so why not my friends online too (that’s you!). I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them.
SEPTEMBER 2020 FAVORITES
*I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. All products shown were purchased by me unless otherwise noted.*
Currently Eating:
I’m starting with this one because I haven’t had pasta in 6 years! That’s how long I’ve been on the Paleo diet to manage my Rheumatoid Arthritis. And pasta is one of those things I’ve really missed. Although not as much as I miss pizza, ha! I recently learned about a company called Jovial that makes cassava pasta. And once I found out I could get it in Canada through Natura Market I ordered up a few boxes. Oh my so so good! If you read my last Menu Plan Monday post then you know I had this delicious pasta with a homemade Paleo Pesto. Heaven!
CURRENTLY DRINKING:
This one is a tea/creamer combo that I am loving on so much. Such a yummy fall drink that I just can’t get enough of. It’s so good and perfect for this time of year. It’s the Stash Maple Apple Cider combined with a splash of Nutpods Dairy-Free French Vanilla Creamer. The creamer was also purchased from Natura Market. And no not sponsored in any way. Yummy!
Currently Loving:
Speaking of fall what’s not to love about the beauty of fall? The colors are stunning. I love going out for Sunday drives to take all the pictures.
However, I’m definitely going to miss the lazy days of summer hanging out on my deck though.
Next up, will you believe me when I tell you that I am loving on a new brush this month? Like what’s so great about a brush right? Well what if I told you that it was a square brush? I first heard about this brush on Dominique Sachse’s Youtube channel. Dominique is a well known news anchor in Texas and I love the weekly videos she puts out. Anyway when she shared this brush I was so intrigued that I had to buy it. Yep I was totally influenced and I’m okay with that :). Dominique has incredible hair!
It allows you to do a blow out that provides you the height you want while giving you a straighter and less round look. It’s hard to explain so watch Dominique’s video below. The brush talk starts at 3:03. I purchased the brush on Amazon HERE.
CURRENTLY planning:
I was recently sent a new planner to try out and I couldn’t be happier about it. The Hope Planner is an all-in-one Christian planner that combines a daily planner and prayer journal to help you be organized and put your faith first each day. I’ve been using two separate planners for these purposes and I’m excited to have one planner that combines all my needs. I’ll give more of an update once I’ve had a chance to use it consistently. I’m using the weekly planner. You can find more details about it HERE.
And if you like, you can watch a flip-through of the planner in the video below.
Currently Watching:
Okay what kind of Organizing Junkie would I be if I didn’t binge watch Get Organized with The Home Edit when it came out on Netflix this past month? Of course I had to do it! And it was a great time with all the organizing candy you could possibly want. Clea and Joanna are known for their spectacular celebrity home organizing makeovers. But you know what that means don’t you? There are NO budgets! So yes that makes for great entertainment for sure. However, please keep in mind that this is not exactly realistic for most people to implement in their own homes. So watch it to get ideas but not to feel bad that your own home might never look like these makeovers. Mine certainly doesn’t!
Currently Reading:
I’ve ordered up the newest Home Edit book and can’t wait to get it. In the mean time I’m reading my contributor Morgan’s newest book, Your Hospitality Personality. And while we can’t be inviting people over for dinner right now there are other ways to be hospitable that she talks about in the book.
From the back of the book:
“Does the thought of hosting a dinner send you into spasms of delight or spirals of dismay? Do you love opening your home to others? Or do you dread even the planning it takes to get a group of friends to arrive at the same restaurant at the same time? We each have our own unique hospitality personality. And when you tap into yours, you’ll find a lot more blessing with a lot less stressing.”
Morgan also wrote a post here about her book along with a quiz to take which you can find HERE.
Currently Purging:
I did quite a bit of purging in September. I got on a roll early in September and attacked many different areas of my home. This is the result of that. And yes even a basket was donated, go me!
And then this was the bag of clothes I purged after doing the seasonal switch out of my clothes. My tips for that can be found HERE.
What have you been purging this past month?
Currently ORGANIZING:
I did so much organizing in September. September has always felt like the “new year” to me. So once my son went back to school I got to work. Nothing really major but lots of little projects here, there and everywhere. Like my fridge for example. I found two perfect bins at the dollar store to fit on the top shelf. These bins are shorter in the front so you can easily reach inside without having to pull the whole bin out. Total win and they keep these two things contained so they won’t spread out all over the place.
You’ll also remember that I organized my jewelry situation and I loved that I was able to pare down to just the things I wear and love. I love my new simpler jewelry organizer (the one on the left).
I also shared about my LOVE for organizing pouches and how I use them for vehicle organization.
Finally if you missed it, I also shared in September the makeover I did on my kitchen utensil drawer.
My Amazon Store:
If anyone is wondering about organizing products and some of my favorites, you’ll be happy to know that I’ve got them all together in one place. Check them all out right HERE in my Amazon shop. So many glorious things! And I’ve added quite a few new items this past month.
Current Sponsor:
Finally I want to thank Smead Manufacturing Company for being a long-standing sponsor of my site. Smead is a woman-owned company well-known for its high quality, environmentally responsible products and innovative organizational systems. For more than a century, Smead has been committed to one purpose: Keeping You Organized.
