The August Collection Is Geometrically Bold, Yet Versatile
Designed by Sarah Gibson and Nicholas Karlovasitis to be compact and versatile, the August Collection from DesignByThem is a clever furniture solution for a range of spaces. The series’ extended junctions create a bold element that stands out in an otherwise geometrically minimal set of armchairs and lounges, making them that much more appealing.
A fundamental part of the design is to highlight and exaggerate how the aesthetic, and many decorative elements, are driven by the function of its assembly and construction. Rather than having the seat and backrest simply end or integrate into the sides, we extended it beyond the arms to emphasize the block-like forms that initially captured us.

For hidden strength and comfort, August utilizes sustainably sourced FSC framing and steel supports encased in low VOC GECA certified commercial grade foam, while upholstery webbing helps the furniture pieces retain their shape and comfort. The August collection is available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers, with or without decorative stitching.
