Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My name is Danielle Chiprut and as an interior designer, I know the importance of creating a home that expresses the owner’s true personality. We purchased this 1930s English Tudor after almost a decade living in NYC. After losing both of my parents, my husband and I were looking for the perfect place to plant our roots. We have two pups that live in our home as well, Hank and Alfie—both dogs are 75 pounds lab mixes that made the move out of the city with us and couldn’t be more thrilled to have a backyard in the ‘burbs.

I decorated my new space with lots of pieces that were featured in my mom’s home; I wanted to feel her presence daily. Lucky for me, she had great taste—how good is that blue velvet Chesterfield in our living room! I knew it had to be the focal point of the room, so I added a gallery wall of art above to fill out that wall—and a swirl of colors and textures in the rug and pillows to make the space the bold jewel box of my dreams.

My mother’s aesthetic was more vintage and glam—so while I loved the pieces I inherited, I knew I wanted to use them in a fresh new way that was more “boho.” To do this, I brought both leather and wood accents into the living and dining room. My mother’s vintage white tea cart received a new paint job and instantly transformed into a modern minibar. I love this space for its character and ability to host large gatherings—which I plan to do when we’re all able to be together again.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Modern Bohemian English Tudor

What is your favorite room and why? When we bought our home, the living room was already bursting with showstopping character. This room is equipped with its original oak floors, tall ceilings with three massive wood beams running across them, a beautiful stone fireplace, and two archways leading you through the house. This room also has a large, southern exposure picture window that floods the room with natural sunlight. Lastly, I can’t forget to mention the cutest little built-in I had ever seen. These architectural elements were the perfect backdrop to my modern boho style and really helped me create the living room of my dreams!

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing that I bought for my home was a beautiful plant from The Sill! It is already thriving in our living room!

Any advice for creating a home you love? Stay true to your design style and don’t be afraid to make bold choices! I have learned that the more true to myself and my design style that I am, and the more I trust my gut, the better the design will turn out!
