These Caned Door Upgrades Make Your IKEA Look More Expensive
The obsession with mid-century modern decor isn’t going anywhere anytime soon—nor is the much-loved look of ’70s-inspired woven textures and natural caning. But the people over at Norse Interiors, a woman-owned company that creates custom upgrades for your Bestå and Malm IKEA furniture, don’t want you to have to invest in new mid-century-inspired pieces. Instead, they’ve created an entirely new line of cane upgrades that fit perfectly on IKEA pieces you already own.
Norse Interiors specializes in decorative door fronts, furniture legs, and knobs that can be installed on existing IKEA Bestå and Malm dressers, nightstands, TV stands, and drawer sets. The company nows offers a cane door upgrade, which is available in five different layouts for Bestå pieces.
“We’re thrilled to launch the cane doors and add even more natural and sustainable materials to our collection,” Norse Interiors founder Lotta Lundaas tells Apartment Therapy of the “modern yet earthy” design element. “Being conscious of the environment always has and will always be at the core of our business and brand.”
The doors themselves are available in ten different colors (the cane comes in one standard natural tone), and you can custom fit the doors using the Norse Interiors’ customization tool. This tool also allows you to customize the top and sides of your existing Bestå piece.
Lundaas continues, “The cane doors are very much in line with our Scandinavian design philosophy, where aesthetic and functionality are combined,” adding that the open weave provides enough opaqueness to hide cable boxes, routers, and other unsightly electronics, without causing them to overheat or experience a signal blockage.
Whether you’re upgrading your TV stand, or adding a mid-century splash to your nightstands, the Norse Interiors cane upgrades are a stylish addition to IKEA Bestå pieces.
