Lighting Trends to Watch from Lightovation 2019
February 15, 2019
One of our favorite things about the new year is taking in all the gorgeous fixtures and designs at Lightovation, the international lighting show held every January at the Dallas Market Center.
Here are some highlights from this year’s extravaganza, including three lighting trends to watch in 2019.
Trend #1: Matte Black Continues to Wow
Matte black was a standout trend last year, and it’s still going strong. As a result, many manufacturers have introduced new fixtures in black or new black finishes for their popular collections.
We love this trend! Just like the iconic little black dress, black finishes are not only versatile, but also classy and timeless.
Tech Lighting introduced a matte black finish for their popular Mara series (along with this new semi-flush). Talk about fun!
Tech Lighting also introduced the Lody collection, a mid-century modern collection that’s available in brass, polished nickel, and, yes, a sleek and elegant matte black.
This trend also extends to bath fixtures. Here’s a sneak peek of a new series from Norwell that plays with the nostalgic light bulb trend as well as black and brass metal finishes. This piece can be installed as a sconce or even on the ceiling as a flushmount!
Trend #2: Black Finishes Paired With Gold or Brass Make Bold Statements
The two-tone metal trend continues especially when it comes to black and gold! Here are a few of our favorite examples.
Currey & Company introduced a black and gold finish for their bestselling Grand Lotus chandelier. We love how the black finish contrasts with the glowing golden light emanating from the chandelier’s interior.
Modern Forms introduced the new Labyrinth chandelier, structurally stunning in aged brass and gold, and illuminated by 90CRI, 3000K integrated LED pillars.
Speaking of beautiful geometric designs, don’t miss Hudson Valley’s new lanterns in the Richie collection, also in an aged brass/black finish. The diamond-shaped chain adds an elegant touch while staying true to the fixture’s clean aesthetic.
Trend #3: Wood-look Metal Finishes Provide Rustic Flair.
Wood-look metal finishes were everywhere, bringing the beauty and warmth of natural wood indoors, especially when paired with nostalgic bulbs or warm white integrated LED.
Look for this trend in everything from chandeliers (featuring Minka Lavery’s Bridlewood collection)…
To bath sconces (the Brookweiler collection by Elk Lighting)…
This is just a sampling of the exciting new fixtures and designs that are in store for 2019! And some of these pieces may be coming to our Waltham showroom, so stay tuned.
Then again, why wait? Escape the winter blahs and stop by our showroom now where it’s always happy and bright! Use the button below to request a complimentary design consultation with one of our expert lighting designers.
