Get Lost in The Factory Rolling Ball Sculpture Game
We’ve long been fans of Material Immaterial studio and their clever designs made out of concrete, including jewelry, cuff links, sculptures, door handles, and games. Each piece is sculptural with distinct details that make it hard to believe they’re made out of concrete, and most of the time, at such a small scale. Their latest is a rolling ball game, a bit larger than the previously released Balls Eye Concrete Maze Game, and one that takes patience to conquer. The Factory Rolling Ball Sculpture Game looks to be a Brutalist architectural sculpture at first glance, but it’s also a fun game you can escape in when you need some time away from work.
Stainless steel balls begin at the top and roll downwards through a series of architectural elements on a journey that takes the player’s eyes along for the ride. At times the ball is hidden until it rolls out the other side, and at another point, the ball moves slowly alongside an arcade-like path. Throughout the journey, shadows cast patterns from the different architectural elements, adding to the drama as the ball’s route continues. The Factory comes with 11 steel balls to keep you entertained, or you can leave it in place as a cool sculptural piece that others will definitely inquire about at first sight.
