5 Senses of Cozy Fall Edition

When I start to style a space I always want it to be cozy for myself and my family. Our living areas are one spot I really focus on making cozy during fall so we can gather together as a family to create special memories. Personally, I feel cozy when all five of my senses are at peace at once. So I wanted to show you how to make any space cozy using your senses.

Sight

When it comes to sight I love bringing cozy lighting into our home. To make your lighting cozier you want to bring it down from the overhead lights. I use wall scones, table lamps, or candles to bring the lighting down. I prefer soft light in our home and nothing too harsh, I look for lightbulbs that are soft white. These lamps from Target are the perfect cozy touch to this space.

Sound

We don’t think about sound when creating a cozy space. I love our speaker because it fits in with our cozy natural decor. In our home, I love playing music to make our space feel more relaxed and set the mood for a happy calm space. Our go-to playlist is called Cozy White Cottage on Spotify!

Touch

Let’s start with touch as that is one of the easiest ways to bring cozy into a space. With our living area, I add a cozy touch with throw pillows and blankets. When it comes to adding the perfect fall pillows to your couch I’m looking for pillows with lots of cozy texture and rustic cozy colors. Pillows and blankets are great ways to bring fall into your living area without needing to purchase a bunch of fall décor.

Quick Tip: For an extra cozy factor I recommend picking large euro pillows to go on your sofa, they make your sofa look and feel so comfy for everyone!

Smell

The next sense I want to share is smell for this I always try to pick my favorite cozy fall scented candles and have them in our home. As you can see here on the coffee table I have a large candle lit, this instantly brings a cozy calming feel to any room. If you don’t have candles you could also use diffusers or incense to bring a cozy scent into your home! [PS my candle is the colossal size, but they come in several different sizes.]

Taste

Taste can be brought into your home through snacks, drinks, or desserts. During the fall months, I love apple cider and I’ve been setting up a mini apple cider bar. Often we think about setting up fun drink bars for guests but why not set it up for our family. Anyone can help themselves to some cider and cozy up their taste buds. This is a super fun way for the whole family to grab a cider and if you have older kids they can help mix the cider and choose any toppings to go in!
